Crumlin Road Gaol is one of the must-see sites in Belfast. This prison, which served as a labour camp, hosted more than 25,000 prisoners between 1800 and 1996. Following its renovation, the prison of today is just like it was at the beginning of the 19th century.

Over the course of the guided tour, you will relive the daily lives of the guards stationed at this penitentiary centre and hear the stories of the prisoners who stayed there.

You will enter the cells and wander along the underground tunnel leading to the old courthouse, the Governor's office and the prison hospital. Discover the wall near the prisoners' graves, inscribed with the initials of those who were executed. Finally, in the condemned man's section, you will see the original noose that was used for hangings and gain access to the execution cell where the 17 documented executions took place.

This poignant tour takes you back nearly 200 years into the past to the heart of crime in Ireland...
