The construction took 13 years (1984-1997), and involved 700 architects and 100,000 workers, including many Romanian army soldiers and volunteers, not to say forced laborers.Bucharest's Parliament Palace was also built on Uranus Hill, the site of the former Uranus-Izvor district, which was razed to the ground to make way for this block of concrete. 40,000 people were accommodated.
