An original way to discover Portugal and the Douro region with a cruise between Porto and Régua!
Depending on your preference, you can choose to start from Porto (Vila Nova de Gaia) or from Régua.
If you choose the cruise first, your day will begin with breakfast on the boat. The cruise will take you through the historic centre of Porto, the Ribeira, and under its bridges. See the Douro region in a new light. Admire the charm of the houses and Porto vineyards as you cruise along the river.
Cross the Crestuma-Lever dam with its 14-metre incline and learn about the dam's mechanisms as you go. After this part of the tour, you'll stop for lunch before exploring the second and most impressive dam on the Douro river. The Carrapatelo Dam has the highest-lifting lock in Europe, lifting boats a whopping 35 metres high.
Once you arrive in Régua, you'll have some free time to explore the town before heading back to Porto (by train or bus, depending on availability).
The cruise is also available from Régua to Porto and involves taking a train from Porto in the morning. Lunch and drinks will be served on the boat
This cruise is ideal for a lovely relaxing day on the Douro River!
