Enjoy a snorkeling experience unlike any other in the world as you dive between two continents in the Silfra Fault, in the heart of Thingvellir National Park!
Classified as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Thingvellir National Park represents the natural boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Thingvellir means "Parliament Plains" in Icelandic, and is so named because it was the original meeting place of one of the world's oldest parliaments. A true place of history, today it's a must-see when visiting Iceland.
Meet at the Thingvellir National Park parking lot, or directly at your hotel in Reykjavik (if option chosen), where you'll join your guide for the activity and the small group accompanying you. The guide will give you several safety instructions for the activity, then help you get kitted out with two thick, watertight wetsuits, so you don't get cold during the experience, a mask, snorkel and flippers.
You'll walk for 10 minutes, in your wetsuit, to the Silfra fault that separates the continents of Europe and America.
You'll gently immerse yourself in the water, the temperature not exceeding 2 degrees, the first swim is amazing! Then you'll immerse yourself completely, and follow your guide on a course lasting around half an hour. Thanks to your mask and snorkel, you'll be able to observe the seabed of the Silfra fault, and come across some endemic fish. During your experience, you'll realize that the water is so clear and transparent that you'll be able to see up to 150 meters deep with the naked eye!
At the end of your experience, you'll enjoy a hot chocolate and some cookies to warm you up, while debriefing on the unique moment you've just experienced.
If you chose the option when you booked, you'll be driven back to Reykjavik.
