Discover the natural wonders of Iceland's Golden Circle with this small-group excursion!
Starting from Reykjavik, you'll embark on a day trip to explore the three iconic sites of the Golden Circle, but also other wonders along the way.
You'll make your first stop in the town of Hveragerði, known as a geothermal and agricultural area. This geothermal energy allows the town's greenhouses to thrive year-round, making Hveragerði the most northerly place in the world for... growing bananas!
You'll then head to the Kerið crater formed over 6,000 years ago. Today it's home to a small lake, which you can observe as you climb the crater.
You'll begin your discovery of the Golden Circle with the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, often nicknamed "the golden waterfall". You'll admire the tumultuous waters of the Hvítá River rushing down a deep canyon, offering a spectacular view in any season.
You'll then head to the geothermal zone of Geysir, where you'll observe the Strokkur, an active geyser that propels hot water up to 30 meters into the air every few minutes. This impressive spectacle will allow you to grasp the full power of Icelandic nature.
Finally, you'll end your day at Thingvellir National Park, a must-see historical and geological site listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Here you'll discover the valley that marks the separation of the Eurasian and American tectonic plates, a unique natural phenomenon.
You'll be driven back to Reykjavik after a full day around Iceland's Golden Circle.
