Enjoy a stroll at an altitude of 2000 metres in the heart of Etna National Park and discover the vineyards through a wine tasting!

You'll be picked up from your hotel and set off towards Mount Etna. On arrival, you'll get prepared for your walk through the heart of the volcanic park. Your volcanologist guide will give you plenty of information about the area. Along the way, enjoy the views of the craters, old lava flows, and vegetation. 

Next, you'll explore a volcanic cave. Get equipped with a helmet and a torch and delve into the depths of the volcano. Your guide will be by your side to teach you all there is to know about volcanic eruptions.

After your introduction to caving, you'll visit a winery. Have a wander through the vineyards where you'll enjoy a lunch of fresh local products (cheese, sausage, olives, fresh bread, and more). Lunch will be accompanied by a tasting of 2 Etna DOC wines (locally produced).

After lunch, visit the Alcantara gorges, which formed thousands of years ago as a result of a lava flow that engulfed the Alcantara river bed. The clash between the ice-cold water of the river and the hot bubbling lava has created one of nature's most spectacular landscapes.

You'll arrive back in Catania at 6-6:30 pm. You'll be dropped off the same place where you were picked up.

  • Meet-up time and place: 9 am at your hotel in Catania. The exact time and place will be reconfirmed after booking
  • The excursion is not recommended for people with cardio-respiratory diseases
  • Please wear sturdy, closed sports or hiking shoes and thick socks. Don't forget to bring a jacket as the temperature at higher altitudes can be lower (about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than in Catania). If necessary, you can borrow equipment. Please inform us when booking if required. Just to let you know, loaned equipment may be a little dated
  • The tour itinerary can change depending on the weather conditions and according to restrictions imposed by the local authorities. Whatever the reason, our local tour operator will inform you in advance. In the event of a cancellation, an alternative date or a refund will be offered to you
  • The tour will be led by a multilingual guide who will alternate between various languages
